Sidama Grade 8 Exam Result 2018 Announced

Sidama Grade 8 exam result for the 2018 Ethiopian Calendar have been announced. There are two ways to check the Sidama Grade 8 exam result. Both students and parents can check the 8th Grade exam result for Sidama Region.

The first method to check the Sidama Grade 8 exam result is visiting the website.

  • Visit this address https://sidama.ministry.et/ on your web browser.
  • Click on “Check My Result”.
  • Enter your registration number and your first name.
  • Click the button “Check Your Result.”
  • Your result will pop up on the screen.

The second method to check the Sidama Grade 8 exam result is through Telegram.

  • Search for @MinistryResultQMTBOT on Telegram.
  • Open the chat and send a message /start.
  • Choose “Grade 8” from the list.
  • After that, the bot will ask you to select your region. Select “Sidama”
  • Enter your 7-digit registration number.
  • Then the bot will ask for your first name. Enter your first name correctly.
  • You will receive your result.

A total of 45,034 students appeared for the 8th Grade exam in 2018 (Ethiopian Calendar) in the Sidama region. Of these students, 29,466 passed the exam, which gives a pass rate of 65.43%. Passed students will now be promoted to the next grade level.

The regional deputy administrator and head of the education bureau, Beyene Barasa, shared that the passing grade for regular students was 50% or more. Students with disabilities had to get a 45% or higher to pass. This type of adjustment provides students with disabilities with a more level playing field.

Moreover, he shared that not every school did the same job. Of the 790 schools that took the exam, 111 achieved a 100% pass rate. This represents approximately 14% of all schools in the Sidama region.

On the other hand, 15 schools had none of their students pass the exam. It’s a difficult result, and probably means some areas require attention. Grade 8 is a major turning point in Ethiopia’s school education system. It is the exam they take that determines whether they go to secondary school.
