Over 1500 Teachers Take Entrance Exam for Summer Teacher Training Program in Central Ethiopia

In Ethiopia, entering a summer teacher training program is not easy. Today, in the Central Ethiopia Region 1, 1,569 teachers from middle and secondary schools gathered to take an entrance exam for a government-sponsored program. This program is designed to sharpen their skills and boost their careers.

The entrance exam was held today in Central Ethiopia Region 1, and it was not small. The examination was conducted online at 13 centers, allowing teachers to take it in their local areas without unnecessary travel. According to Asseber Woldie, Deputy Head of the Regional Education Bureau, the entire process was planned to ensure that teachers in the region would have equal access to the test.

What makes more than 1500 teachers come for an entrance exam? It’s because if they pass, they will have access to a free summer course to upgrade their diploma to a degree. Not all teachers are simply switching from a diploma to a degree. It’s a real career transition that can lead to better opportunities in the future.

The exam was not a one-subject test; it covered 10 different subjects. The teachers who pass the entrance exam will be eligible to participate in a free summer teacher training program. Thereafter, they will enroll in university courses designed to help them earn their degree.
