Debre Tabor University Fixes Disqualified Exam Results
Seven students at Debre Tabor University received their 2018 remedial exam results (Ethiopian Calendar) as disqualified. After the Ministry of Education announced the results of the Ethiopian Remedial Exam for the 2018 (Ethiopian Calendar) academic year. Right after the results, students across different universities began complaining. The complaint was common that their results show up as Disqualified.
Some students opened their Ethiopian Remedial Exam results and found the whole result marked as disqualified. For some students, only the specific subject score got flagged as disqualified, while the rest of their results were fine.
The registrar’s office at Debre Tabor University recently found an error in how it recorded exam results for a small group of remedial students. The mistake meant these students were wrongly labelled as disqualified, even though nothing was wrong with their exams.
The registrar’s office of Debre Tabor University announced that seven remedial program students had their results mistakenly marked as “disqualified.” It was a system error. After that the registrar’s office notified the Assessment and Examinations Service immediately so the issue could be resolved properly.

The seven students involved come from two different academic backgrounds:
- 3 students from social sciences
- 4 students from natural sciences

All seven took their exams at the Debre Tabor University examination centre. The error occurred within a single centre, making it easier to trace and correct. Debre Tabor University shared this information with students and requested that affected students file their complaints with the Assessment and Examinations Service.
