Ethiopian Ministry of Education Asks Students to Choose University
If you took your 12th-grade national exam in 2018 (Ethiopian Calendar) and got admitted to a university through the regular admission process. The Ethiopian Ministry of Education announced that it’s time to pick your university and your field of study.
The process looks simple, but make sure to complete this before the deadline. Otherwise, you could run into problems with your placement. Mark your calendar. The selection period runs from August 28, 2018, to September 5, 2018 (Ethiopian Calendar).

- Have a backup field of study in mind
- Make time to sit down and actually complete the process, not just plan to do it.

Go to the site, log in, and follow the steps to select your university and field of study. Since this is a Ministry-run portal, it’s the only place you should be doing this.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Education has shared specific requirements for certain student groups. If you fall into one of these categories, you’ll need to bring the right legal documents.
- Students with medical conditions. Proof of your condition is required.
- Students with disabilities. Legal documentation confirming this is needed.
- Same-sex couples. Required to provide the necessary legal documentation.
- Mothers with children under six months old. Must show proof as well.
If any of these apply to you, don’t skip this step. Get your paperwork in order before the selection period closes.
