Ethiopian Special Boarding Secondary Schools Exam Update
If you registered for the entrance exam at one of the Ethiopian Special Boarding Secondary Schools, there’s an update for you. The Ethiopian Ministry of Education has updated the status of the students who applied for admission in Ethiopian Special Boarding Secondary Schools and announced the exam date for elected students.
The Ministry of Education announced a competitive admissions process for 9th and 10th grade students. This applies to both existing and new Federal Special Boarding Schools for the 2019 (Ethiopian Calendar) academic year.
How to Check Your Status?
You need your reference number and the registration link.

- Enter your reference number in the space given
- Your status will show up right away
Since the exam for Ethiopian Special Boarding Secondary Schools will be given online, you can choose the exam center that’s closest to you.
Ethiopian Special Boarding Secondary Schools Accepting Only 9th Grade Students

Ethiopian Special Boarding Secondary Schools Accepting Both 9th and 10th Grade Students

You’ll select your center through the same registration link you used to check your status. There is no need to visit a separate site or fill out extra forms.
Exam Dates
There are two dates announced for this round of the Ethiopian Special Boarding Secondary Schools entrance exam:
- Practice exam Wednesday, August 27, 2018 (Ethiopian Calendar)
- Main exam Thursday, August 28 (Ethiopian Calendar)
The practice exam gives you a chance to get familiar with the online format. It is advised to take the practice exam before the main exam. Students who pass the exam must be ready to attend the boarding school to which they are admitted.
