Ethiopian Ministry of Education Names 4 New Boarding Schools
The Ethiopian Ministry of Education has just announced a list of special boarding schools that will begin accepting new students for the first time next year. An excellent move for those students seeking a boarding school experience, it is an opportunity not previously available.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Education has released a list of four special boarding schools that will accept Grade 9 students for the first time. These are new schools taking on Grade 9 students for the first time.
The four new schools that will take Grade 9 students are:
- Arba Minch Federal Special Boarding School
- Assosa Federal Special Boarding School
- Bahir Dar Federal Special Boarding School
- Dire Dawa Federal Special Boarding School
It is these four that are opening their doors to new 9th Grade students. It’s a huge development for students living in those areas who wish to attend a boarding school near home.
In addition to these four new schools, the ministry also shared the names of schools that are still accepting students.

- Woliso Federal Special Boarding School
- Bui Federal Special Boarding School
- Bonga Federal Special Boarding School
- Jigjiga Federal Special Boarding School
- Gambella Federal Special Boarding School
There are now nine federal special boarding schools in operation, including the new schools and the existing ones. Boarding schools provide students with an opportunity to dedicate themselves completely to their studies, as they would not be able to at home. This increase in schools will help more students who are far from existing special boarding schools.
